The official video for a-ha "Take On Me". At the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards, the video for "Take on Me" won six awards—Best New Artist in a Video, Best Concept Video, Most Experimental Video, Best Direction, Best Special Effects, and Viewer's Choice—and was nominated for two others, Best Group Video and Video of the Year. It was also nominated for Favorite Pop/Rock Video at the 13th American Music Awards in 1986.



Norwegian pop band a-ha formed in Oslo in 1982. The band was founded by Morten Harket (vocals), Magne Furuholmen (keyboards), Pål Waaktaar (guitars) and Peder Anker-Ræsch (bass).

A-ha achieved their biggest success with their debut album, Hunting High and Low, in 1985. That album peaked at number 1 in neighboring Norway, number 2 in the UK, and number 15 on the U.S. Billboard album chart; yielded two international number-one singles, "Take on Me" and "The Sun Always Shines on T.V."; and earned the band a Grammy Award nomination as Best New Artist.
